Summer 2005, Into All The World agreed to work
with Pastor Abraham Emmanuel of Sri Lanka. Picture below are the
executive director of
IATW – Bill Lewis and Pastor Abraham at the mission display
at the National Convention of the Congregational Christian Church
in Canada, Edmonton, Alberta.
Pastor
Abraham oversees the Nazarene mission with headquarters in Colombo.
The mission is currently working on a three-fold outreach: to the
Colombo slum dwellers; to the war victims of Vanni and the northeast;
and, to the upcountry Tamils living on tea plantations.
Pastor Abraham has a growing relationship with Canadian Congregational
Christian Churches and Into All The World is happy to assist with
the development of this relationship.
The nation is predominantly a Buddhist country with 70% of the population
following Buddhism, the state religion. The population of the island
is about 19,500,000 people.
Sri Lanka was one of the countries with much damage from the Tsunami,
especially the eastern side of the island. The Nazarene mission
mustered all its local resources and with assistance from abroad
took relief items to the Galle and Trincomalee districts.
With God’s help we would like to assist Nazarene Mission to
plant ten new churches in the next five years. If you would like
to sponsor a new church, or sponsor a national pastor with monthly
support of $70, we can assist you in helping this needy land.
