Benin is a long narrow country wedged between Nigeria and Togo.
The population is just over six million, in about 57 ethic groups.
Benin became independent from France in 1960.
The nation's population is about 28% Christian,
17% Muslim and 55% Tribal religion.
Some of the larger tribal groups include the Fon, Yoruba, Bariba,
Fula. A prayer request is that an ethnically fair and ethically
just democracy might take root in the social fabric of the country
and
that the leaders may work for the good of the people rather than
enriching themselves.
At the right is pictured Bitrus and Monica
Audu who oversee the work in Benin. The other two photos are of
various meetings which
are
being held. One of the rural area, one in the capital of the
country.
In the past we have had short term teams go and conduct evangelistic
outreach meetings. One of the problems faced in Gospel proclamation
is the voodoo background of the people. Power encounters
are quite common between the powers of darkness and light.
Pray for the advance of the Gospel as well as God's care and
protection on Gospel workers.
If you would be interested in going short or long term to Benin
please be in touch.
