The population is about 250,000 in this coastal enclave bordering
on Guatemala and Mexico.
Challenges for prayer:
Nominalism and syncretism are common amongst the Christians of
the country. There is a great need for a culturally relevant and
sensitive
presentation of the Gospel.
Denominational variety make unity and common goals for Christians
difficult to attain.
Some groups of people have few Christians: namely the Mayan peoples,
the Garifuna people, the Chinese people and the East Indians.
From Saint John, New Brunswick:
Greg and Debbie Renton are developing a ministry for short term
teams to go and work in Belize with the churches.
The Rentons have made several trips and are planning to take
teams each year. For more information on one of these trips we invite
you to contact them through our office.
